Or termite damage in a structure

First, you'll need to be sure they are termites.
This is what termites look like:

Ant and Termites head and body (2 parts not 3 parts with a waist, and with straight beads for antennae, not with elbows in the antennae) If you've found winged ones and they have equal sized wings, they are termites. If the front wings are bigger, they are not.

Termites and its colony

Termites live in colonies which are usually underground, although sometimes they can be within your home. The "worker" termite forages outside of the colony for food. It consumes the wood creating "galleries" and then returns to feed the rest of the colony. Tell-tale signs of termites include mud (or shelter) tubes on foundation walls, termite swarms and of course infested wood members.

Termite King & Queen

In a young colony, the king and queen are the ones actively reproducing termites.
Their only function is the production of the eggs. The queen can lay eggs up to 20,000 to 30,000 everyday.

Termite Workers

Workers represent the majority of the colony population. The termite worker is responsible for caring of the eggs, constructing and maintaining tunnels, foraging for food and feeding at the same time grooming of other caste members. They are white and soft-bodied.

Termite Soldiers

Soldiers are responsible for defending the colony. They are white, soft-bodied with an enlarged, hardened head containing two large jaws, or mandibles which are used as a weapon against predators.
